What is Move it Boom?

Move it Boom is a competition designed to encourage primary school children across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to get physically active. Children are allocated a unique username and password for the Move it Boom website, and when they take part in any physical activity, whether that be a bike ride, a sports club session, going swimming or playing football in the park, they can log that activity online to win points for their school. The more physical activities children do and log their online, the more new parts they will earn for their  virtual robot avatar, continually upgrading it to become a super cool machine!

Why should your school take part?

Move it Boom is a great way to get everyone in your school community active, providing you with additional health and wellbeing evidence to support Ofsted self-evaluation and, where applicable, Healthy Schools accreditation. It’s also completely free to take part! Your school could also be in with a chance of winning one of a number of brilliant prizes from our MIB partners at the end of the competition.   Move it Boom runs from Monday 4 October 2021 until Friday 17 December. Move it Boom partners with Raising Health

Raising Health logo For Move it Boom 2021, we have partnered with Raising Health, the charity arm of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, to raise vital funds to support children and young people with mental health conditions.

What are we raising money for?

We are raising money to buy new sporting and outdoor equipment for The Beacon, an in-patient mental health facility for children and young people in Leicester.  We know that outdoor physical activity contributes to the recovery of patients with mental health conditions, and we would like to make sure that we are doing all we can to support our young people on their journey.

How can your school get involved?

We want to encourage all schools taking part in Move it Boom 2021 to incorporate a fundraising day where pupils come to school in non-uniform, wearing a sports or PE kit, and complete the ‘Move it Boom Mile’; all for a small donation to the Raising Health appeal.

How can they complete the 'Move it Boom Mile'?

Pupils can complete the mile in any way they would like, with the idea for them to have as much fun being physically active as possible. Here are some ideas for ways in which children in your school could complete their Move it Boom mile:
  • Run
  • Walk (Forwards or backwards!)
  • Holding an egg and spoon
  • Balancing something on their head
  • Moving through and around obstacles
  • Three-legged by tying themselves to a friend

Getting started

You can complete your fundraising day at any point during the Move it Boom competition, and there’s no need to worry about counting cash or banking it, as the team from Raising Health can collect it for you.
